Hello! I’m Liv :)
I’m an artist, writer, and travel enthusiast in my early 20s who loves seeing the world on a budget.
Liv on the Map is a budget travel and creativity blog focused on affordable travel, artistic inspiration, and meaningful exploration around the world.
I love finding charming hostels, navigating cities by public transit, and uncovering hidden gems that most tourists miss. My travel style blends slow travel with occasional country-hopping, focusing on meaningful experiences rather than luxury resorts or cruises.
Originally from a small town in Ohio, I spend my time painting, throwing clay, journaling, and writing stories inspired by the places I visit. Travel constantly fuels my creativity, shaping the art I create and the stories I tell.
I created this blog to share:
Budget-friendly travel tips
Travel stories and itineraries
Artistic inspiration from around the world
Lessons learned while navigating life in my 20s
If you love affordable travel, creative living, and discovering places beyond typical tourist routes, you’re in the right place.
My Travel Philosophy
I believe travel doesn't have to be expensive to be meaningful.
My favorite trips usually involve:
hostels instead of resorts
trains instead of flights when possible
public transit instead of taxis
wandering neighborhoods instead of sticking to tourist zones
Some of my favorite experiences have come from simply slowing down and observing everyday life in a new place.
That said, I also love the thrill of country hopping and seeing as much of the world as possible—finding that balance between slow travel and exploration.
Where I’m Traveling Next
My travels have focused heavily on Europe so far, but my long-term goal is to explore more of Asia, Africa, and South America.
My top bucket-list destinations:
Kyrgyzstan
South Korea
Peru
Argentina
Rwanda
